April 9, 2007 - General Meeting

Danny Tang
- double major Math and Econ
- KKR Financial - in San Francisco
- thought she was going to go to grad school - did the whole application process
- applied to a few jobs too - ended up with KKR - be flexible
- when you getting an interview you are also interviewing the company - make sure you want to work here

Cara Petonic
- Math major
- working next year in investment banking
- last semester she thought she was going to grad school and getting her PhD.
- CDO - Liza helped her put her resume together - found jobs through OCEAN - heard from first place in October - her interview was at Swat. - first one is the job she took -
- another interview - 6 in 3 hours - little things in interviews that keep people interested - the way you can communicate with them
- put down everything that you've been involved in
- always tweak your resume - make it look pretty - work experience, related experience, leadership skills
- small businesses are good too - can advance pretty quickly - don't have one year program or anything

Sumana Shrestha
- Econ and Math double major
- next year - Citigroup - New York - as an analyst
- first job offer in October - do not accept jobs right away - wait and continue job search
- CDO would help with networking - Swat alum helped her with her resume - difference between getting attention and not - put everything down in numbers - quantify projects
- applied at City Group through OCEAN - but also applied through their own website
- 6 or 7 rounds of interview - if you are not confident about something don't mention it
- doesn't really matter if you don't have finance background - many of other applicants were engineering, physics, and math majors
- math and econ research
- not that many extracurricular activities - but it didn't really hurt her
- never pad your resume - don't lie
- may need to choose your area of study for thesis based on who you are going to work with professor-wise
- keep it corporate and professional always

Rebecca Moy
-Econ major and East Asian minor
- Accenture - consulting - work in teams, put through training
- OCEAN - Accenture - GPA - doesn't matter all the time - Bryn Mawr doesn't have grade inflation
- constantly travelling between Philly and NYC - 100 kids for 2 spots - don't wear a black suits, wear skirts - Wall Street is conservative
- 5 minute pitch - tell me about yourself - why she went to Bryn Mawr, why she chose her major
- what would you like to highlight about yourself from your resume
- doesn't have to stay in Philly - bonus of being in a globalized company
- don't downplay your language - taking Mandarin really helped her

Christine Lipuma
- Econ major
- FDIC - economic research - Washington, D.C.
- applied to a lot of jobs and been on about 25 interviews
- learn how to sell yourself and be confident - start early and get used to interviews
- if you are introverted - really read up and know all the answers before they ask - sound confident

Neha Sinha
- Econ major
- law school in the future
- took her LSATs in September - consumed her life first semester - try to go through summer programs with standardized tests - they take up a lot of time
- law school - rolling admission - send things in early - make sure that professors who are writing your recommendations are actually doing that - they are busy - keep reminding them
- make sure you stand out - make an impression
- go to events - network
- read up on what you actually do before you apply - put what they want to see first
- always write thank yous
- talk to alums
